COVID-19 Update - Week 13

By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.

John 13:35

Right now we have opportunity to love one another, to love our neighbor, to love those who are different from us, and to love those who we disagree with. This is how we prove to the world that we are followers of Jesus.

A Word About Recents Events

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position.

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Romans 12: 9-16, 21

COVID-19 Update - Week 12

"My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends."

John 15:12-13

This verse takes on a new meaning as we are all learning how to put the health and safety of our friends first and lay down our lives during this global pandemic. We want to model that sacrifice here at Union Chapel.

ONLINE THROUGH JUNE

We feel the best way we can love each other at Union Chapel is to continue to hold online services through the month of June. Our primary motivation for this decision is to keep people safe, and we think the online format is the best way to do that. We also want to model leadership to local churches and local leaders. And finally, we think the online experience will be more valuable to you than an in-person gathering would be at this point in time with all of the restrictions that would need to be followed. We will continue to update you about plans moving forward following the month of June.

SERVICE TIMES

This weekend, we will stream our online services at our regular service times: 8:30am, 10am, and 11:30am, and will provide one more rebroadcast in the evening at 5pm. We think this will help the people in our congregation who prefer the early 8:30 service, and it will help us as we plan to transition back to a regular weekend in the future.

COVID-19 Update - Week 11

We hope the lyrics of this magnificent hymn bring you rest and comfort today. Let the words wash over you.

Great is Thy faithfulness
O God my Father
There is no shadow of turning with Thee
Thou changest not
Thy compassions they fail not
As Thou hast been
Thou forever will be

Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning new mercies I see
And all I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness
Lord unto me

COVID-19 Update - Week 10

We find ourselves today with disrupted plans and confusion about the future. James 4:15 reminds us, "Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” We're praying that God's will be done, and in His good time, we'll find ourselves back in a regular routine.

ONLINE ONLY

We just want to remind everyone that's our services will remain online through the month of May. After that we'll proceed cautiously and reevaluate week-by-week. We'll keep you informed about our plans to meeting again on campus, but in the meantime stay faithful, stay encouraged, stay hopeful. We're in this together!

COVID-19 Update - Week 9

Dear Friends,

Greetings!  I trust you are well.  We are all on this unusual journey through the crisis of Covid-19.  I am so proud of the many people from UC giving, serving, sacrificing and loving our community so well.  We are hearing so many stories from individual parishioners, small groups, essential workers, first responders, medical personnel, etc., etc., who are extending extraordinary acts of kindness, bravery and love to so many.  Well done!

I also wanted to update you that weekend services will continue to be online throughout the month of May.  Our top priority is the health and safety of our parishioners.  This is the best way to honor that priority.  Also, it is so great to see so many of you engaging online, sharing our weekend services by watching and chatting about the messages, music and prayers.  Of course, we are all looking forward to when we can be together in-person, but are grateful for the amazing opportunity God is giving us to reach people for Jesus we might not otherwise be able to reach.

As we look toward meeting again on campus, I want you to know our phenomenal Facilities team has been hard at work refreshing rooms with new paint, deeply cleaning and sanitizing our spaces from top to bottom. Throughout this month, they will continue their efforts sanitizing bathrooms and commonly used surfaces, disinfecting our spaces with hospital grade and EPA registered disinfectant cleaner. When we do meet again, we will continue to utilize these methods of disinfecting surfaces before and after each service, to provide the safest environment for you and our guests.

As updates from Federal, State and local officials shift and new information is made known, our plans may have to shift as well. We will keep you updated via email, social media and the Union Chapel Ministries app as events unfold. Please continue to be in prayer for Muncie and for the world, especially for those who are directly impacted by this virus.

Even in these uncertain times, with you I have seen and still believe, The BEST is YET to Come!

- Gregg

COVID-19 Update - Week 7

For some who fall on the side of introversion, this time of distancing has probably been recharging and restful. For those extroverts that are craving social interaction, let this time be a time of growth in the fruit of patience. Pray that God would cultivate this fruit in your life.

COVID-19 Update - Week 6

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

1 John 4:18

Perfect love comes from God. It motivated Him to die for us. Don't let this be an abstract truth, He loves YOU! That perfect love casts out all fear. If God is with you, who can be against you? If God is for you, who can be against you? Be encouraged today by the love of God for you.

COVID-19 Update - Week 4

Little faith produces big worry, but big faith reveals a big God. Take these days to strengthen your faith in the big God we serve.

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

Matthew 6:25-34

COVID-19 Update - Week 3

The church is not a building, and it cannot be cancelled. Be encouraged today that God can still work in and through the church even though we are not able to be together at this time!

BLOOD N FIRE

Our good friends Bob and Stacy Ball have taken up the incredible task of serving meals Monday - Saturday from 4-5pm to help provide relief for this virus. On Saturdays they are also giving out boxes of groceries. Join us in supporting their efforts and spread the word to those who you think might benefit from this ministry.

OFFICES

Our offices are closed, but our phones are open! Get in touch with us by calling 765-288-8383.

GIVING

If you have not already made the switch to online giving, here is a helpful tutorial that will walk you through how to do that. Thank you for your generosity, we understand that this may be difficult for those whose revenue streams have been affected.

LET'S HELP PEOPLE

This is a great opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community. Let's be good neighbors to those in need! Be strong and courageous!

A practical way to help others at this time, is to give blood. More than 2,700 blood drives have been canceled due to the COVID19, resulting in a decrease of more than 86,000 units of blood being donated. BLOOD DONATION IS SAFE and the need is high. Click here to find out where to donate and schedule an appointment to give today!
